The Blob vs Killer Klowns from Outer Space

From the smoldering rubble of a meteor comes a gelatinous monster that’s hungry for everything. It makes its way around the other, devouring everything it comes into contact with. Humans and buildings have no hope - all you can do is run!

This is, of course, a brief overview of The Blob - a hit 1950s sci-fi horror starring Steve McQueen. For years, we saw the Blob as one of the most terrifying things to come from outer space. However, it’s not the only monster - or group of monsters - to come to earth and terrorize the human race.

We’re back for another edition of Monster Fight Club to see who would win in a match-up between two iconic sci-fi villains. In one corner, we have the Blob in all its gelatinous glory. In the other, we’ve got the Killer Klowns from the 1988 sci-fi flick Killer Klowns from Outer Space. The film follows a group of horrible aliens designed to look like circus clowns as they go on a mindless rampage, harvesting humans and killing everything in sight.

It’s quite the match, but who would win if the two alien species went up against one another? Let’s find out by seeing exactly what each party brings to the table…

The Blob

The Blob is basically a giant alien jelly.

While that doesn’t seem too intimidating, it comes with a whole list of strengths that make it a firm adversary for anyone:

  • Anything it touches gets absorbed into its mass
  • It can grow bigger and bigger each time it absorbs something
  • It boasts shape-changing abilities to squeeze through gaps and passages
  • The bigger it gets, the heavier it is, allowing it to crush things as well as absorb them
  • It’s almost impossible to injure as physical attacks create holes that close immediately
  • The Blob is invulnerable to fire, explosives, bullets, and electricity

Basically, we’ve got a massive alien creature that’s virtually impossible to kill. In fact, the only way it was killed in the movie was by exposing it to freezing temperatures. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done when you have a huge gelatinous creature bearing down on you.

Killer Klowns

Killer Klowns are mutated versions of circus clowns from outer space. While slightly scarier than a big blob of jell, you can be excused for wondering what all the fuss is about. However, the Killer Klowns come with some unique strengths that make them more than a match for the humans in this film.

The strengths include:

  • Access to high-tech gadgets and murder weapons
  • The ability to kill using shadow puppets
  • Virtually no weaknesses
  • Strength in numbers - there are multiple clowns and only one Blob, including a 20-ft tall Klownzilla
  • Supernatural abilities - can teleport, squeeze into tiny places, and make weapons appear from nowhere
  • Can regenerate body parts

All in all, you’ve got a pretty dangerous clown posse on your hands here. Effectively, they’re invulnerable to basically anything and everything - with one slight caveat. Unlike The Blob, Killer Klowns have one noticeable weakness; their big red noses. When struck here, their noses pop like balloons and cause the clowns to explode.

How Would They Fight?

You’ve got The Blob, and you’ve got Killer Klowns - how are they going to fight one another?

We think the ideal fighting or movie scenario for this battle would be on planet earth. Both creatures come here to fulfill their own personal missions. For The Blob, it’s to consume everything and get as big as possible. For the clowns, it’s all about harvesting human blood.

Both arrive on earth to find their plans are scuppered by the other monster. So, a big fight begins to see who wins - and who gets to take over the earth.

Who Wins?

After an intense battle, it’s clear there’s one winner.

Drumroll, please…

The Blob!

It’s impossible to see past this big ball of jelly when it fights the Killer Klowns. With basically no weakness other than extreme cold, it’s not hard to see how The Blob dominates this fight. It could simply consume other structures to get bit and heavy before crushing the clowns and bursting their noses.

Do you agree with this outcome? We can’t see any way for the Killer Klowns to get the upper hand here. Their best option is to hop back into their ship and fly far away from wherever The Blob is!
